Our story

Humy is one of the first companies to build a successful commercial product around accurate and engaging AI-powered historical figures. What began as the Hello History app, lifelike conversations with people from the past, has grown into Humy.ai, an educational platform trusted by over 100 schools, universities, museums, and countless history buffs in more than 20 countries.

We combine curated primary sources with large language models to create interactive historical figure simulations that are grounded in what each figure actually wrote and true to the beliefs they genuinely held. We are constantly working to install, maintain, and upgrade guardrails to provide accurate sourcing and combat AI hallucinations. Humy receives no funding from government agencies, political parties, or private estates to influence source materials, and is working on establishing an advisory board of history experts to safeguard our neutrality.

Therefore, we strive to maintain a neutral stance with each of our AI-generated figures and let them express their own thoughts, beliefs, and political leanings. Uniquely, Humy embeds multimedia primary and historical sources into LLM answers, providing richer and more nuanced answers than generic AI platforms.

History is our foundation, but Humy serves the full breadth of Social Studies and the Humanities. Students debate the social contract in civics, weigh Smith against Keynes in economics, question Socrates in philosophy, and read Van Gogh's letters in art class. Teacher tools for assignments, auto-grading, and curriculum alignment map every activity to standards, from the C3 Framework and Common Core literacy standards to England's National Curriculum.

And unlike generic AI tools that risk replacing student thinking, Humy is built to strengthen it. Our figures question, guide, and challenge students, developing critical thinking and source analysis instead of doing the work for them.
