Our story
Here's to history, culture and philosophy coming alive in the words of the people who wrote them.
After launching two educational AI products — facing-it.com and the Hello History app — and seeing demand from educators grow, we set out to build source-grounded AI simulations for education. Today Humy is used by more than 100 schools, universities and museums across 42 countries, and is one of the first commercial products built around historical figures that are both accurate and worth talking to.
We pair curated primary sources with large language models so a figure answers from what they actually wrote — letters, speeches, paintings, photographs, audio recordings, even 3D‑scanned artefacts.
History is the foundation, but Humy carries the whole of social studies and the humanities: the social contract in civics, Smith against Keynes in economics, Socrates in philosophy, Van Gogh's letters in art class.

Grounded in sources
A figure holds an archive of its own documents and searches it while it answers. Formatted quotes are resolved by our backend against the original, so a quotation cannot be fabricated — and every reference opens the scanned page beside its transcription.

Independent by design
We take no funding from government agencies, political parties or private estates to shape source material. Each figure keeps its own beliefs and politics rather than ours, and an advisory board of historians is being formed to safeguard that neutrality.

Built to strengthen thinking
Generic AI tools do the thinking for students. Ours question, guide and push back, so the work is source analysis and argument. Assignments, auto-grading and standards alignment map it to the C3 Framework, Common Core literacy and England's National Curriculum.
